Terms of Service -- IncomeRecord.com
Last updated: January 2024
These terms govern your use of IncomeRecord.com and the pay stub generator service. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
What This Service Is For
IncomeRecord.com exists to help people document income they actually earned in the standard pay stub format that lenders and landlords expect. The intended users are:
- Gig workers (DoorDash drivers, Uber drivers, delivery workers) who earn real income but don't receive employer-issued pay stubs
- Freelancers and independent contractors who need standardized income documentation
- Self-employed people and sole proprietors who pay themselves from business income
- Small business owners who need to generate pay stubs for their employees
- W-2 employees who have lost or cannot access their employer-issued stubs
In all of these cases, the pay stub is documentation of real income. The tool helps format that documentation properly.
Acceptable Use: The Legal Line
There is a clear legal line: using a pay stub that accurately documents real income you actually earned is legal. Using a pay stub that misrepresents income you did not earn — to obtain a loan, rental housing, or any financial product or government benefit — is fraud.
Specifically, if you use a fraudulent pay stub:
- To obtain a mortgage loan or home equity loan, you may be committing bank fraud under 18 U.S.C. § 1344 (up to 30 years in federal prison, $1 million fine)
- To submit an application electronically, you may be committing wire fraud under 18 U.S.C. § 1343 (up to 20 years per count, or 30 years if affecting a financial institution)
- To submit an application through the mail, you may be committing mail fraud under 18 U.S.C. § 1341 (same penalties as wire fraud)
- You may also face state-level forgery, fraud, and false document charges in addition to federal charges
These are serious federal felonies with multi-decade prison exposure. "I found a free tool online" is not a defense. The tool generates a document; what you put in that document is your responsibility.
By using IncomeRecord.com, you represent that the information you enter reflects income you actually earned and that you are using the generated pay stub to document real, accurate income — not to misrepresent income to any party.
What the Service Does and Does Not Provide
IncomeRecord.com provides:
- A calculator that computes federal and state income tax withholding, Social Security, Medicare, and other deductions based on inputs you provide
- A PDF generator that formats these calculations as a standard pay stub document
- Educational content about pay stubs, income documentation, and related topics
IncomeRecord.com does NOT provide:
- Tax advice or tax preparation services
- Legal advice
- Payroll services for business compliance purposes
- Verification or certification that the income documented is accurate or verifiable
- Any guarantee that generated stubs will be accepted by any specific lender, landlord, or third party
The calculations are based on publicly available IRS withholding tables and state tax information, updated periodically. Tax laws change. There may be situations — complex filing statuses, multiple jobs, mid-year changes — where the tool's calculation differs from what a full payroll system would produce. The tool is designed for common scenarios and may not handle edge cases correctly.
Accuracy Disclaimer
We work to keep tax calculations accurate and current, but we make no warranty of accuracy. Tax tables change. States update their withholding rules. We may not update the tool immediately when changes take effect.
The generated pay stub is not a guaranteed-accurate tax document. It is a formatted representation of calculations based on the inputs you provided using the current tables in our system. If precise tax accuracy is critical for your purposes (for example, for a court proceeding, a government benefit application, or official payroll records), consult a licensed tax professional or CPA.
User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:

- Understanding that IncomeRecord.com cannot verify your income and is relying on what you enter
- Complying with all applicable laws regarding income documentation in your jurisdiction
- Any consequences arising from inaccuracies in information you provide
